It utilizes a rotating helical screw blade, typically enclosed within a U-trough or tubular casing, to impart axial motion to the conveyed medium.
Constructed from high-tensile steel or corrosion-resistant alloys, the flighting (spiral blade) is engineered to precise pitch, diameter, and thickness specifications to optimize material throughput, reduce abrasion, and minimize power consumption. The screw shaft is supported by end bearings and intermediate hanger bearings, which are often equipped with self-lubricating bushings to ensure long-term operational reliability.
Screw conveyors are driven by gear-reduced electric motors, commonly using direct drive or chain-coupled drive systems, providing efficient torque transmission.
